We know that when it comes to a wedding, there are a lot of things that need to be planned. But, before you can even start picking the perfect venue, dress and an experienced makeup artist for your D-day, it’s the skincare regimen that needs a jump start over anything else. While everything else will eventually fall into place, a flawless and radiant complexion will not happen overnight; plus the pre-wedding stress that can add to your skin woes.
To make sure that you look your best on the most important day of your life, we have created a skincare guide that is easy to follow and will get you the desired results. All you have to do is follow this checklist.
6 months before D-day
Take stock: Its really important to understand your skin first in order to resolve any issues or underlying problems. If you suffer from regular breakouts, you should be booking an appointments with a dermatologist, as certain medications might take at least 12 weeks to take effect.
Opt for a laser hair removal treatments: If you have been thinking about opting for a permanent hair removal then this is the time to go for it. Since these treatments require a number of sittings (depending on the rate of hair growth), its appropriate to start now.
Start drinking lots of water: Hydration is the buzzword as far as good skin is concerned. Start drinking at least 3 lts of water every day and you will notice a noticeable difference. You can also add some lime wedges, cucumber slices and mint to water and sip it throughout the day.
3 months before D-day
Cut oily food from your diet: If you haven’t been doing this, then it’s best to start at least 3 months before. Also, cutting dairy and carbonated drinks out from your diet doesn’t hurt either. This will also help in trimming your waistline.
Wash your face daily but not too much: Follow the cleansing, toning and moisturising routine to a T. Skipping the toning step is a big no-no as it helps tighten the pores.
Start using sunscreen: Apply a thick coat everyday after your bath on all exposed skin areas. Also make it a habit to carry it and apply whenever necessary.
Invest in regular facials: This will improve your skin tone over time and give your skin the required nutrient boost. In case you miss your salon appointment, apply a sheet mask which are also quite effective.
Opt for full body scrubs: These will get rid of the dead cells and make your back look like a dream. Follow it up with a mask and you will be good to go.
1 week before D-day
Get your brows in shape: Get your brows waxed, threaded, or shaped at the two-week mark—tweeze any stray hairs at least one day before your wedding to avoid redness.
Go in for an oxygen facial: Your skin will love the fresh burst of oxygen and look brighter and fresher.
One day before D-day
Get your beauty sleep: Slather on some night cream, put on a soothing eye mask and slip into a deep slumber. That’s all you need before your big day.
